Currently on flickR, the online landfill of digital images, there are 89,131 images tagged as Montreal. Image adjectives, or clusters include canada-snow-winter-night-street-church-city-architecture. Which isn’t very illuminating really, as they are basically the same clusters available for Helsinki. (Although, Helsinki gets suomi and sunsets too). Can we develop a city adjective list from this?. A comparative chart allowing travellers to pick destinations based on pre-selected adjectives? No, let’s not. What all this doesn’t allude to however, is how often photographers felt compelled to photograph a smoked meat sandwich just dropped in front of them. (Incidentally, ‘smoked meat’ joins the cluster ‘canada-sandwich-quebec’)
